Roberson Named Interim Transit Director

Posted: 09/20/2018
Melissa B. Roberson, Knoxville Area Transit’s veteran Chief Administrative Officer, has been named by Mayor Madeline Rogero to serve as the City’s Interim Director of Transit, effective Saturday, Sept. 22, 2018.

Roberson will replace Dawn Distler, who’s accepted a new position as the Executive Director of the Metro Regional Transit Authority (METRO) in Akron, Ohio.

“Melissa is a consummate transit professional with 35 years of experience at KAT,” Mayor Rogero said. “She understands KAT’s capabilities inside and out, and we’re fortunate to have her deep expertise and institutional knowledge. Melissa also has a strong team in place, anchored by veteran Chief Operations Officer Beverly Campbell.”

Roberson said she’s looking forward to serving in the new role.

“I appreciate the Mayor’s confidence,” she said. “Over the past several years, transit in Knoxville has gotten new attention, and our growth reflects that. We look forward to building on that momentum, always with a focus on safety and serving our community.”
