City offices and recreation centers will be closed Monday, May 27, 2019 for the Memorial Day holiday, but Waste Connections’ pickup of garbage and recyclables will continue as regularly scheduled.
Contractor Waste Connections picks up garbage and recyclables in the City of Knoxville on all holidays except Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Collection of downtown trash and recyclables also will run on regular schedules, and City recycling centers will be open as normally scheduled. However, Goodwill Industries attendants will not be available for household goods donations on Monday, May 27.
The City’s Solid Waste Management Facility, 1033 Elm St., will be closed Saturday, May 25, through Monday, May 27.
On Monday, May 27, Knoxville Area Transit (KAT) buses and trolleys will operate on a Saturday schedule. The Knoxville Station Customer Service Counter will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For more information on KAT scheduling, visit
