City of Knoxville offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, 2019 and Friday, Nov. 29, 2019 for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Knoxville Area Transit buses and trolleys will not run Thursday, Nov. 28. On Friday, Nov. 29, KAT will operate following its Saturday schedules. The Knoxville Station Customer Service counter will be open Friday, Nov. 29, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Downtown garbage and recycling collection will run on regular schedule during Thanksgiving week.
In all other parts of Knoxville, garbage and recycling pickups will operate on a regular schedule Monday, Nov. 25, through Wednesday, Nov. 27, before switching to a holiday schedule for the end of the week.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are the two holidays that the City’s contractor, Waste Connections, does not run regular curbside household garbage and recycling collection routes.
Waste Connections will run its Thursday routes on Friday and its Friday routes on Saturday. Homeowners are encouraged to have garbage and recycling containers out for pickup before 7 a.m. on their respective pickup day.
City recycling centers will remain open, but the Goodwill Industries attendant will not be available to assist with household donations on Thursday, Nov. 28.
The City’s Solid Waste Management Facility, 1033 Elm St., will be closed starting Thursday, Nov. 28, and will resume its regular operating hours Monday, Dec. 2.
On Wednesday, Nov. 27, the City’s recreation centers and the Knoxville Arts and Fine Crafts Center, 1127 N. Broadway, will be closed for staff training. Elmer Brine Pool and South Knoxville Community Center, both located at 522 Maryville Pike, will be closed that day for maintenance. All City recreation facilities will be closed Thursday, Nov. 28, and Friday, Nov. 29.
