On Wednesday, May 1, 2019, Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief Eve Thomas presented the Knoxville Police Department Unit Award to the Special Crimes Unit.
The Special Crimes Unit serves some of the most vulnerable victims in our society. Investigating cases involving domestic violence, elder abuse and child sex abuse requires attention to detail and often speaking for the victim so that justice can be obtained.
The commitment to their clients and dedication to finding the truth has brought many difficult cases to conclusion.
The Special Crimes Unit has had a successful history of working cases that have resulted in convictions to numerous violent suspects. These convictions have brought closure to the victims, allowing them to begin the healing process.
The Special Crimes Unit has a long history of good team work between the sworn, non-sworn, and the numerous support advocates throughout our community.
