With safety measures in place to protect against the continuing Covid-19 pandemic, the Knoxville Police Department will resume its monthly Child Safety Seat Checkpoints on Saturday, June 13.
The free Child Safety Seat Checkpoint events, which were canceled in April and May, are held each month from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 917 E. 5th Avenue in Knoxville, Tennessee. During the Checkpoint, child car seats will be checked by a certified car seat technician to ensure proper use and installation. KPD personnel who have completed the 32-hour Child Passenger Safety Technician Standardized Training lead the Checkpoints.
In an effort to protect employees and the public, KPD personnel will wear masks and gloves while making every effort to practice physical distancing. Members of the public who attend the Checkpoint are asked to wear masks, limit the number of attendees and practice physical distancing. Additionally, those who are sick, have potentially been exposed to COVID-19 or are experiencing symptoms of the virus are asked to remain at home.
