City of Knoxville offices will be closed Thursday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Nov. 26, in observation of the Thanksgiving holiday.
This closure includes the 311 Center for Service Innovation. Residents who need to call 311 over the holiday weekend may opt to use the My Knoxville app for iPhone and Android, submit a request at
KnoxvilleTN.gov/311 or email
[email protected]. A list of social services and community resources for food, housing, mental health assistance, etc., is available at
tn211.org.
Be advised of these other holiday-related changes:
• Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day are the only days of the year when residential curbside trash and recycling are not picked up as scheduled. Waste Connections’ office will be closed Thursday. Crews will run Thursday routes on Friday and Friday routes on Saturday; residents should have their carts ready for pick-up by 7 a.m. on those days. Downtown garbage and recycling collection will run on regular schedule.
• Please remember to limit your waste to the contents of your city-issued trash cart; no overflow trash or carts with lifted lids will be collected.
• The City's five recycling centers will be open, but the Goodwill attendant will not be available for household donations on Thursday, Nov. 25. Please don’t leave donations at recycling centers when they are unattended.
• The City's Solid Waste Facility at 1033 Elm Street will be closed through Sunday, Nov. 28, and will resume normal hours on Monday, Nov. 29.
• Knoxville Area Transit buses and trolleys will not operate on Thanksgiving Day, and the Knoxville Station will be closed. KAT buses will run on a Sunday schedule on Friday, Nov. 26, and resume regular operations on Saturday, Nov. 27.
