After nearly 2 years serving the people of Knoxville, Chief Financial Officer Susan Gennoe is leaving the City for a new opportunity with the Metropolitan Knoxville Airport Authority.
“I am so grateful for everything Susan has accomplished at the City,” said Mayor Indya Kincannon. “She has seen us through a lot: the pandemic, the distribution of ARPA funds, a comprehensive compensation study, and a tough budget that included a tax increase.
“She will be missed, but I know she is leaving the Finance Department better than she found it.”
Gennoe, a Certified Public Accountant, started with the City in August of 2020, after almost 2 decades of service in Alcoa and Blount County. This new opportunity means a return to that region.
“This was an opportunity closer to home that I just couldn’t pass up,” Gennoe said. “At the same time, it is bittersweet. I will be forever thankful to Mayor Kincannon and the opportunity to serve as a member of her Cabinet. Following the budget vote last week, I feel like I am leaving on a high note.”
Gennoe’s final day with the City will be July 15. She will begin her new role as Vice-President of Finance with MKAA on July 18.
Mayor Kincannon has asked Deputy Chief Financial Officer Boyce Evans to step in as Acting Chief Financial Officer until a replacement is hired.
