The
Knoxville Community Band will perform its annual Christmas concert on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2023, at 3 p.m., at the historic Bijou Theatre, 803 S. Gay Street. Admission is free.
Larry Hicks directs the Knoxville Community Band, which is sponsored by City of Knoxville Parks and Recreation department. Joel Tillman serves as Assistant Director.
The all-volunteer band will present a program featuring the following songs:
• “A Christmas Festival” by Leroy Anderson
• “The Toymaker's Workshop” by Rebecca Jarvis
• “On Christmas Day in the Morning” by Robert Longfield
• “Celtic Carol” by Robert W. Smith
• “Christmas Morning (Around the Christmas Tree)” - arr. by Gene Milford
• “A Jazzy Christmas” - arr. by Joe Derhake
• “A Vaughn Williams Christmas” - arr. by Douglas E. Wagner
• “Country Cookin' Christmas” by Jeff Simmons
• “The Mountains Echoed: Gloria!” by Robert Longfield
This event includes a food drive to benefit FISH Hospitality Pantries, an interfaith food pantry that serves low-income households in Knoxville. Information about the organization can be found at
FishPantries.org. Attendants at the venue will collect food items that are shelf stable, unopened and unexpired.
