Knoxville Fire Department Awards Banquet Honors Dozens
On June 30, 2023, off-duty Knoxville Firefighters and their families gathered for a celebration that was long overdue.
Knoxville Fire Department has a tradition of recognizing the efforts of it firefighters. However, in 2020 and 2021, the COVID-19 pandemic sidelined many of those well-established opportunities to honor those who earned Firefighter of the Quarter and FF of the Year for their commendable actions in harrowing, life-threatening situations.
The first KFD Annual Awards Banquet, held at the Jubilee Center, established a new tradition that KFD personnel had been planning for some time.
Knoxville Firefighters Association provided dinner, and Chief Wilbanks served as emcee. Awards were handed out to firefighters honored in 2020, 2021 and 2022.
For three years’ worth of quick and life-saving actions of KFD firefighters – and the efforts of KFD staff to formally celebrate these important actions – we are recognizing KFD and the awards banquet as a Knoxville Job Well Done!

But this year, did you know, there are also 2 new summer programs?

This month’s mystery employee interacts with dozens of City departments as well as constituents across Knoxville-- and beyond.
She’s still relatively new to the City – have worked here for only 6 months. In that short time, she’s made herself invaluable, especially to those who cross her path every day.
She’s a lifelong Knoxville resident. She enjoys washing her car in the rain. And she can outsing anyone in karaoke. Any takers?
Think you know who it is?
