On Aug. 1, 2024, the City of Knoxville released its
draft Fair Housing Equity Plan for a 30-day public comment period. Residents are invited to a public meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 7, 6-7:30 p.m. at Cansler YMCA, 616 Jessamine Street to ask questions about the plan and provide comment.
A virtual meeting option will be offered via Zoom; that link will be posted at
KnoxvilleTN.gov/FairHousing by noon on Aug. 7.
The City partnered with consultants Community Solutions Collaborative, LLC to create the report and plan based on community feedback provided during extensive interviews and public meetings held in March and April 2024. The plan describes the fair housing history, climate and infrastructure in Knoxville and makes recommendations for improving equity and opportunity.
In addition to commenting in person, residents may also provide feedback via email to Fair
[email protected] or to Linda Rust at
[email protected] or in writing at P.O. Box 1630, Knoxville, TN 37902. All comments received through Aug. 31, 2024, will be included in the final version of the plan, which will be submitted to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
