North Knoxville Dog Parks Celebration Set for July 31, 2024

Posted: 07/24/2024
Neighbors and their dogs are invited to celebrate the opening of two new neighborhood dog parks in North Knoxville.

The celebration at Love Towers Dog Park on Wednesday, July 31, 2024, 3:30 p.m. is designed to bring together dog lovers and canine friends for an afternoon of fun and educational resources.

Young Williams Animal Center and River Dog Bakery will be on site, as well as Raising Canes Food Truck, Knoxville Utilities Board’s water station, and a Knoxville Fire Department pumper truck.

Love Towers Dog Park, at 1171 Armstrong Avenue, and Fountain City Dog Park, adjacent to Fountain City Skate Park at 108 Knox Road, were built by City crews and funded in part by grant funding through the Boyd Foundation’s Knox Neighborhood Dog Parks (KNDP) program.

In 2020, the Boyd Foundation – established in 2018 by philanthropists Randy and Jenny Boyd to support animal welfare and youth education – solicited requests for dog parks from area neighborhoods and pledged $500,000 in grants for their creation.

Ten Knox County neighborhoods were chosen, five within City limits. Dog parks at Sam Duff Memorial and Holston-Chilhowee parks opened in 2023. City staff are working on identifying a location to construct a park in the Oakwood Lincoln Park neighborhood.

The City of Knoxville ensures meaningful access to City programs, services, and activities to comply with Civil Rights Title VI and ADA Title II laws and reasonably provides: translation, interpretation, modifications, accommodations, alternative formats, auxiliary aids and services.
