City Offices Closed for MLK Day

Posted: 01/17/2025
City of Knoxville offices will be closed Monday, Jan. 20, 2025, for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday.

Waste Connections will run its normal residential garbage and recycling routes on the holiday. Downtown crews will also collect trash and recyclables on a regular schedule.

The City's Solid Waste Facility, 1033 Elm St., will be closed between Saturday, Jan. 18 and Monday, Jan. 20, resuming regular hours on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

The City's five recycling drop-off centers will be open Monday, Jan. 20, and the Goodwill attendant will be on site to accept donations of household goods.

Monday’s closure includes the 311 Center for Service Innovation, which operates the 311 and 211 phone numbers. Residents who need to report issues to 311 or access 211 services on Monday are encouraged to download the My Knoxville app for Apple and Android devices to report potholes in local roads, graffiti, overgrown lots, and other neighborhood issues. Residents may visit 211.org for a list of social services.

Knoxville Area Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule on Monday, Jan. 20. The Knoxville Station customer service counter will be open 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
