In March, City crews will begin replacing parking signs and meters as part of Knoxville’s revised downtown parking plan. The plan was announced last year, with implementation set to begin in the first quarter of 2025.
The first steps to improve downtown parking and mobility will come with the implementation of ParkMobile, a digital payment system used in hundreds of cities and locations, including parts of the University of Tennessee campus.
Residents are encouraged to download the ParkMobile app
(App Store | Google Play) if they don’t already have it, in anticipation of the changeover in March.
New signage and revamped meter posts will be the first step of the conversation. That work is scheduled to begin March 1, and last throughout the month.
The following on-street parking rates will go into effect March 10, 2025:
•
2-hr maximum Parking Zone: increase from $1.50 to $2/hour
•
4-hr maximum Parking Zone: increase from $.30 to $1/hour, 10-hr maximum zones changed to 4-hr maximum zones
It is important to note:
•
Free parking nights and weekends will continue
•
All 15-minute, free Stop-n-Go locations will remain
•
Cash payments can be accepted in all City-owned garages
