Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero and Police Chief David Rausch today named Officer Jordan Henderson the March Officer of the Month for the Knoxville Police Department.  Officer Henderson has been with the department since January 2014.

Chief Rausch said that during the Month of March Officer Henderson’s patrol activities resulted in multiple felony arrests, the seizure of drugs and a weapon that was in the possession of a convicted felon.  The first arrest occurred during a traffic stop on Martin Luther King, Jr. Avenue.  The driver of the vehicle was found to be in possession of 97 grams of marijuana that was being stored in a mason jar.  Multiple cell phones, a set of digital scales, multiple clear plastic baggies, and more than $1,300.00 were discovered in the vehicle and on the suspect’s person.  The suspect, Jeffery Stokes (DOB 1-23-87), was charged with multiple felony drug charges.  

Another traffic stop on a vehicle displaying a license plate that had been reported stolen was conducted on Magnolia Avenue.  Three of the five occupants of the vehicle were either arrested or cited for violations of the law including a convicted felon in possession of a weapon. 

Passenger Montiere King (DOB 12-3-92), was found to be in possession of a loaded .45 caliber handgun.  Officer Henderson discovered King had a prior felony conviction for aggravated burglary.  King was arrested and charged with unlawful possession of a firearm.  

A 16-year-old female juvenile passenger was discovered to have an active juvenile petition on file and was placed into custody and transported to the Richard L. Bean Juvenile Detention Facility.  

The owner of the vehicle, Reynecia Jones (DOB 8-7-89), was issued a misdemeanor citation for theft of the license plate.  

Chief Rausch said, “Officer Henderson’s attention to detail resulted in felony arrests and the confiscation of a weapon by a convicted felon.  We congratulate Officer Henderson on doing his part to take criminals off our streets, which makes our communities safer.”
